How to set up a TV for 3D viewing

IMPORTANT: This solution is designed to assist with the setup of a Sony® 3D TV when using a 3D source device. Although a Sony 3D TV will work with 3D devices made by other manufacturers, we recommend referring to the operating instructions of the 3D source device for any model-specific questions.

NOTE: Not all TVs are supplied with 3D capabilities and setting up for 3D TV will differ depending on the type of 3D technology the TV is using. To see if your TV is 3D capable and what type of 3D technology the TV is using, check the specifications or the supplied manual of the TV. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

Select the appropriate link below to set up your 3D TV.

• The TV is using Active 3D

• The TV is using Passive 3D

  1. Turn the TV on.
  2. Connect the 3D source device to the TV using a High-Speed HDMI® cable. For more information regarding the HDMI cable required for 3D viewing, visit HDMI website.
  3. Display the content to watch in 3D on the TV screen.
     • Make sure that the content being displayed is from a 3D device. If using a 3D capable Blu-ray Disc® player or PlayStation® 3 (PS3™) console, insert a 3D movie or game title. If you have subscribed to 3D programming through your cable or satellite provider, tune the satellite receiver or set-top box to the station with 3D programming.
  4. Using the supplied remote control, press the INPUT button to select the appropriate HDMI input.
  5. Put the Passive 3D glasses on.
  6. Press the 3D button on the TV remote control or select 3D format (Side-by-Side or Over-Under) by pressing the OPTION button and selecting 3D format.
