Preparation
Check the Firmware Version
If the firmware is version 2.1.0, you do not need to perform the update. You can check the firmware version as follows:
- Launch the Sony | Sound Connect app.
- Connect your headset to the Sony | Sound Connect app.
- Press the three dots (Menu button) in the upper right corner of the app.
- Select the Version of your headset shown in the Menu. This will only appear when the headset is connected to the Sony | Sound Connect app.
- Confirm the firmware version.
Important Notice
- Do not turn the headset off or tap the (Power button).
- Do not perform the update in a location where the Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent or congested, such as on a train or near a microwave, cordless phone, or any other devices that use the 2.4 GHz band frequency radio waves.
- Make sure both devices (Android device or iPhone and headset) are fully charged.
- In the Sony | Sound Connect app, set the Automatic Power Off function (power-off function when non-equipped) to Do not turn off.
Note: You can restore this setting after the update is complete. - Disconnect all other Bluetooth devices such as wearable devices or smartwatches from your Android device or iPhone before starting the update.
Before You Upgrade
- Please update to the latest version of the Sony | Sound Connect app (Ver. 11.0.0 or later).
- Once updated, the firmware cannot be reverted to an earlier version.
- For Android device, the update process will take approximately 40 minutes to complete.
- For iPhone, the update process will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
- Depending on the radio wave environment and your Android device or iPhone, the update process may take longer to complete.
Download & Install
To update the headset, follow the procedure below:
- Download the data from the server to the Android device or iPhone.
- Transfer the data from the Android device or iPhone to the headset.
- Complete the update using the headset.
Step 1: Install the Update
- Launch the Sony | Sound Connect app.
- Connect your headset to the Sony | Sound Connect app.
- If you have never connected to the Sony | Sound Connect app before, follow the on-screen instructions to set up a connection.
- If you have connected to the Sony | Sound Connect app before, select your headset from the available options.
- The download and transfer will start. The screen will automatically move to the next one after these are complete.
Note: When the Automatic download of software setting is enabled (factory default setting) in the Sony | Sound Connect app, the download and transfer of the update software will start automatically.- If the Automatic download of software setting is disabled in the Sony | Sound Connect app, the download and transfer of the update software will not start automatically. You will need to follow the procedure below:
- Make sure both the R (right) and L (left) sides of the headset are connected.
- The following screen will be shown when the connection has been established. If an update is applicable, the message The latest audio device software is available will be displayed, and you can press MORE INFO.
- Move to the Update Software screen. Verify that Version 2.1.0 is displayed and press START (Android device) or Start (iPhone).
- If the Automatic download of software setting is disabled in the Sony | Sound Connect app, the download and transfer of the update software will not start automatically. You will need to follow the procedure below:
- Update the audio device software will be displayed. Press MORE INFO.
- Move to the Update Software screen. Verify that Version 2.1.0 is displayed and press START (Android device) or Start (iPhone).
- The update process will start and take a few minutes to complete.
Note: During the update, the headset will turn off on their own. They will automatically turn back on and reconnect via Bluetooth before the update is completed. - When the software update is completed, press OK.
Step 2: Check that the Update Was Successful
After the update, confirm that the new version has been installed successfully by following the steps in the Check the Firmware Version section. If the firmware version shown is 2.1.0, the upgrade was successful.

What Should I Do If an Update Error Message Appears?
- Press OK.
- Restart the headset (put them in the case, then remove them).
- Restart the Sony | Sound Connect app and try the update again.
Even though the update failed during the process, check the firmware version to confirm. If the version shown is 2.1.0, the firmware update was successful. If not, try the update again. For details, check the firmware version from the Sony | Sound Connect app settings or go to the Check the Firmware Version section on this page.
