System Requirements

  • An Android device (Android 8.0 or later) or an iPhone (iOS 15.0 or later).
  • An active Internet connection.
  • The latest version of the Sony | BRAVIA Connect application (Ver. 3.1.0 or later) must be installed.
  • The control box must be connected to your Android device or iPhone.
  • Each speaker must be connected to the control box.

Preparation

Check the firmware version

If the firmware version for the control box is 1.256, you do NOT need to perform the update.
To check which firmware version you have, follow the steps below:

  1. Turn on the control box.
  2. Launch the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app.
  3. Connect the control box to the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app.
  4. Connect each speaker to the control box.
  5. Select Settings in the remote menu.
  6. In the Settings menu, select System Settings.
    System Settings is located in the fifth row from the top.
  7. In the System Settings menu, select System Information.
    System Information is located in the second row from the bottom.
  8. Confirm the firmware version. (Ignore the 00 before the version number.)
    Software Version is displayed in the System Information screen.

Important Notice

  • Do NOT turn off the control box or tap the (power button) in the remote menu during the firmware update.
  • Do NOT perform the update in a location where the Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent or can become congested.
    Note: The communication distance between the speaker system and wireless LAN router may be shortened depending on the usage environment (including the wall material), radio wave reception conditions, or obstacles between the two devices. We recommend you move the speaker system and wireless LAN router closer to each other.

Before you upgrade

  • Once the firmware is updated, it’s not possible to return to an earlier version.
  • The update process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
  • The update process may take longer to complete depending on your device and the radio wave environment.

Download & Install

Step 1: Install the update

  1. Turn on the control box.
  2. Launch the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app.
  3. Connect the control box to the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app.
  4. Connect each speaker to the control box.
  5. Select Settings in the remote menu.

    Note: If an update is available, the message You can update to the latest software. will be displayed. Press Confirm to begin the update process.
    The message will be displayed at the bottom of the screen, with [Confirm] displayed on the far right.
  6. In the Settings menu, select Software update.
    Software update is located in the 8th row from the top.
  7. Confirm the software update information, then press Update.
    At the bottom of the screen, the [Update] and [Close] buttons are lined up one above the other. The [Update] button is at the top.
  8. The update progress bar will be displayed.
  9. Confirm that the software update is completed.
    [Update completed] will be displayed on the screen, and the [START OVER AGAIN] and [LATER] buttons will be displayed vertically at the bottom.

Step 2: Check that the update was successful

After the software update is completed, confirm that the new version has been installed successfully by following the steps in the Check the firmware version section. If the firmware version shown is 1.256 for the control box (3.042 for the supplied front/rear speakers), the firmware update was successful.
