Home Theater System or Sound Bar audio is out of sync with the source device image using an HDMI connection
Depending on the sound source output from devices (Blu-ray Disc™ Player, set-top box (STB), game consoles), the picture or the sound may be out of sync. If this is the case, select the solution which corresponds to the connected source device.
When the source device is connected to the Home Theater System or Soundbar using HDMI
If the Home Theater System or Soundbar has a SYNC (A/V sync) function, adjust the setting and see if the issue improves. For how to change the A/V sync setting, refer to the Home Theater System or Soundbar's manual.
When the source device is connected to the TV using HDMI, or the audio source is output from the TV (TV broadcast, Netflix®, Prime Video, Apple TV®, etc.)
- If your TV has a function that delays the image (A/V sync setting), try adjusting that setting. For details, refer to the TV's manual.
Hints:- If your Home Theater System or Soundbar supports the Sony|BRAVIA Connect or Sony | Home Entertainment Connect app, you can adjust the delay using the following steps: Settings → Sound Settings → AV Sync.
- If your TV is a BRAVIA™, change the A/V sync setting from Auto to Off or On. For details, refer to the TV's Operating Instructions or Help Guide.
If your TV is BRAVIA, try the following settings on the TV:
- Change A/V sync from Auto to Off or On
- Change eARC mode to Auto
- Change Pass through mode to Auto, or change Digital audio output to Prioritize pass-through
Hint: The menu item varies depending on the models. You can find the above settings on Settings → Display & Sound → Audio Output, or Settings → Display & Sound → Audio Output → Audio System Settings. For details, refer to the BRAVIA's manual.
Examples of the settings:- Quick Settings → Settings → Display & Sound → Audio output → Pass through mode
- Quick Settings → Settings → Display & Sound → Audio output → Audio system settings → Digital audio output → Prioritize pass-through
- If your Home Theater System or Soundbar is listed below, try the following settings:
- For BRAVIA Theatre Quad (HT-A9M2)/BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9 (HT-A9000)/BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8 (HT-A8000)
- On the Sony|BRAVIA Connect or Sony | Home Entertainment Connect app, select Settings → Wireless Speaker Settings → Wireless Playback Quality, and set it to Priority on Sound Quality
- On the Sony|BRAVIA Connect app, select Settings → Sound Settings, and disable DSEE Ultimate
- For HT-S2000
- On the Sony|BRAVIA Connect or Sony | Home Entertainment Connect app, select Settings → Sound Settings, and disable DSEE.
- For HT-A9, HT-A7000, HT-A5000, or HT-A3000
- Press the HOME button on the remote control. Then, on the Home menu, select Setup → Advanced Settings → Speaker Settings→ Wireless Speaker Settings → Wireless Playback Quality, and set it to Priority on Sound Quality
- Press the HOME button on the remote control. Then, on the Home menu, select Setup → Advanced Settings → Audio Settings → DSEE Extreme, and set it to Off
- For BRAVIA Theatre Quad (HT-A9M2)/BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9 (HT-A9000)/BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8 (HT-A8000)
- If the above workaround doesn't work well and your Home Theater System or Soundbar has an HDMI terminal, connect the source device directly to the Home Theater System or Soundbar using an HDMI® cable. For details on the connection method, refer to the Home Theater System or Soundbar's Startup Guide or Help Guide.
Note: If you want to connect many devices to the Home Theater System/Soundbar and the number of HDMI terminals is insufficient, connect the source device that delays the sound to the Home Theater System/Soundbar via HDMI first. If no more HDMI terminals are available on the Home Theater System or Soundbar, connect other devices to the HDMI terminals on the TV.
