Preparation

Check the firmware version

If the version is displayed 2900 or lower (SRS-XG300), 3900 or lower (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300), we strongly recommend updating the firmware. If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of the firmware you currently have:

  1. Turn on the speaker.
  2. Launch the Sony | Music Center application.
  3. Connect your speaker to the Sony | Music Center application.
  4. Select Settings System and then confirm the firmware version.

Important Notice

  • Do not perform the update in a location where the Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent, such as:
    • on a train or in a place where Wi-Fi signals become congested
    • near a microwave, cordless phone, or any other devices that use the 2.4 GHz band frequency radio waves
  • Ensure both devices (Android or iOS devices and speakers) are fully charged.
  • Make sure that your unit is connected to a power outlet via the AC adapter (SRS-XG300), USB AC adapter (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300) before starting the update.
  • Disconnect all other Bluetooth devices such as wearable devices or smart watches from your Android or iOS device before starting the update.

Before you upgrade

  • Once updated, the firmware cannot be reverted to an earlier version.
  • For Android devices, the update process will take approximately 5 minutes (SRS-XG300) or approximately 6 minutes (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300) to complete.
    The file size is about 1.54 MB for SRS-XG300 and approx. 2.18 MB for SRS-XE200 and approx. 2.19 MB for SRS-XE300.
    For iOS devices, the update process will take approximately 11 minutes (SRS-XG300) or about 14 minutes (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300) to complete.
    The file size is about 1.54 MB for SRS-XG300 and approx. 2.18 MB for SRS-XE200 and approx. 2.19 MB for SRS-XE300.
  • It may take longer to complete depending on the radio wave environment and your Android or iOS device.

Download & Install

To update these speakers, follow the procedure below:

  1. Download data from the server to the iOS device or the Android device.
  2. Transfer data from the iOS device or the Android device to the speakers.
  3. Execute the update with the speakers.

Step 1: Install the update

  1. Connect to a power supply outlet.
    • SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300
      Use the USB AC adapter and supplied USB Type-C® cable to connect the unit's DC IN 5 V port to a power outlet.
    • SRS-XG300
      Connect the supplied AC adapter to the speaker's DC IN 5 V port and an AC outlet.
    Note: The software update cannot be performed when using battery power only.
  2. Turn on the speaker.
  3. Launch the Sony | Music Center application.
  4. Connect your speaker to the Sony | Music Center application.
  5. The following screen will be shown when the connection has been established. If an update is applicable, Update the software of the speaker. will be displayed and you can press More Info.

  6. Verify that Version 3100 (SRS-XG300) or 4000 (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300) is displayed and press OK to start the update.
    The version is in the upper left corner of the screen, the left side: [LATER] button at the bottom of the screen, and the right side: [OK] button.
  7. Once the download starts, after the download is completed it will automatically move to the transfer screen.
  8. Once the transfer starts, after the transfer has been completed it will automatically move to the next screen.
    Note: Do not turn off your speakers while downloading updates, transferring data, or updating, otherwise, the speakers may become unusable. When the software update is completed, press OK.
  9. If the screen indicating the software update completed is not displayed, proceed with Step 2 to make sure the software version has been successfully upgraded.
    Note: The speaker automatically turns off when the software update ends.

Step 2: Check the update was successful

After the update, confirm that the new version has been installed successfully by following the Check the firmware version section steps.
If the firmware version shown is 3100 (SRS-XG300) or 4000 (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300), the upgrade was successful.

Questions & Answers

An update error message appears.

  1. Press OK.
  2. Restart (turn the power off then on) the speaker.
  3. After that, restart Sony | Music Center and update again

Even though the update failed during the process, check the firmware version. If the Version is shown as 3100 (SRS-XG300) or 4000 (SRS-XE200/SRS-XE300), the firmware update was successful. If not, try the firmware update again. You can check the Version from the setting in the Sony | Music Center application.
