Error: Disc Unknown or Invalid disc appears when attempting to play a movie from a disc.

This error may occur when trying to play some Blu-ray Disc® movie titles even though the latest firmware update is already installed.

NOTE: If the Blu-ray Disc player is connected to the Internet, system software (firmware) updates can be performed from the Settings menu of the Blu-ray Disc player. If the Blu-ray Disc player is not connected to the Internet, you can create an update disc. Downloads are posted on your model support page.

In many cases, the issue was resolved by holding down the STOP, PLAY, and POWER buttons on the Blu-ray Disc player at the same time. The Blu-ray Disc player restarts and is then able to read and play the disc.

If the issue continues, clean the disc  to make sure there are no fingerprints or smudges. If the disc is scratched, it may no longer be playable and you should try playing other discs.

Temporarily unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet to perform a power reset if the issue is still not resolved.
