Set up My TV for the First Time

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

Follow these steps to guide you through the initial setup:

1. Turn on your TV.
2. On the Language screen, select your desired language.
3. On the Privacy Policy screen, select Enable Smart TV or Disable Smart TV.
   • To use apps and receive software updates, select Enable Smart TV.
4. On the Network Setup screen, select Easy or Expert to connect your TV to a network.
   • Easy

     1. On the Network Setup – Wi-Fi Network screen, select WPS (Push Button) or your wireless network.
        • Follow the on-screen directions.

          

     2. If required, enter your network password.
        • Use the on-screen keyboard or an optional USB keyboard to enter your password.
        • Your TV skips the Network Setup – Wi-Fi Network screen if you use a wired connection.
     3. The Network Set-up screen shows the network status. Select OK to continue.

        

        • If your TV can't connect to your network, repeat the Network Setup procedure.

   • Expert

     Note: Before you setup the network on your TV, determine your network IP information using a computer.

     1. Select Wired.
     2. Select Manual or Custom.
     3. Enter the following IP information obtained from your computer:
        • IP Address: The first three numbers should be the same as the IP Address of your computer. On the last number, enter a number higher than the computer's IP Address but less than 254. For example, if the IP address shown on your computer is 192.168.0.5, enter 192.168.0.105.
        • Subnet Mask: Use the same information obtained from your computer.
        • Default Gateway: Use the same information obtained from your computer.
        • Primary DNS: Enter 8.8.8.8
        • Secondary DNS: Enter 8.8.4.4
     4. If prompted for a Proxy Server, select NO.
     5. Select Save and Connect.

   • Select Skip to set up the network at a later time.
5. On the Country screen, select your region, area or country.
6. If the Interactive Application Privacy Notice appears, select Agree.
7. On the Automatic Software download screen, select On or Off.
   • If you set automatic updates to Off, you can still manually update your TV.
8. On the Remote Start screen, select On to allow remote devices to turn on the TV from standby.
9. On the Auto Program screen, select OK to set up the channels on your TV.
   • On the Program Sorting screen, organize your TV channels. Press the RETURN button to continue.

     

   • Select Skip or Cancel to tune your TV at a later time.
   • Depending on the available broadcasts in your area, options to set up digital and analog broadcasts may be available.
10. On the Current Time or Clock Set screen, select Date and Time to set the date and time.
    • Select OK to finish the setup.

Now that the initial setup is complete, you can sit down, relax, and enjoy your new TV!
