How to connect a digital or high definition (HD) cable box.
Connecting a digital or high-definition (HD) cable box to the television is very similar to connecting a standard cable box to the television. The main difference is the type of cable you use to connect your equipment.
Depending on the make and model of your cable box, you may have a variety of output jacks available to connect it to the television. To take full advantage of the high-quality picture available with a digital or high-definition cable signal, use the highest-quality connection jacks available. Digital connection cables - either HDMI® or DVI - will provide the best quality picture, while component (Y/Pb/Pr) video cables provide the best-quality picture for an analog signal and are a good choice if your television does not have a digital input jack.
The BRAVIA Connection Guide is an interactive program that can provide you with a customized hookup scenario based on the available connection jacks on your home A/V components.
If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in the Hookup Guide, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
Refer to your A/V receiver manual for detailed information on setting your speakers for surround sound.
