A message stating a software update is available displays when the TV is turned on.
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
The update message is not an indication of an error or malfunction. It means the TV requires a download of the latest software version. These updates are designed to keep up with programming changes and to enhance the overall viewing experience. The update is received directly from an over-the-air broadcast. Follow the steps provided on the screen to complete the software update.
IMPORTANT: Do not unplug or disconnect the power from the TV once the update starts.
Sony® TVs that are connected to a cable box or a satellite receiver require the update to be downloaded using the USB connection. In these cases, or in cases where the broadcast software updates are unsuccessful, you can download the update using a computer. Downloads are posted on your model support page.
NOTES:
- See the news item about the software update for more information.
- If attempting to re-install an update that has already been installed, the TV will display a message that it already has the latest software version.
