Some TV features stopped working properly after installing a software update released in May 2016 - Fix Now Available!
Software update version PKG2.901AAA was released as an automatic system update and posted on the Support web site for download on May 11, 2016 for a brief period of time.
Affected TV models were released in 2014:
- KDL##W5##B Series
- KDL##W6##B Series
- KDL##W7##B Series
- KDL##W8##B Series
- KDL##W9##B Series
- XBR##X8##B Series
- XBR##X9##B Series
After installing the update, some televisions exhibit the following issues:
- The Amazon® app on some 4K TVs cannot be accessed or is now only providing content in 2K format.
- 3D movies do not work — the screen goes white and only the sound is heard.
- The picture is flickering after switching the input from an HDMI input that has an active device connected to the TV input.
The Fix
We are pleased to announce that a new software update, which resolves the above issues, is now available. You can get the update a few different ways:
- If your TV is connected to the Internet:
- The update will appear as an automatic system update when you turn on the TV or you can initiate the system update via your TV menu.
- If your TV is not connected to the Internet:
- You can download the software update and then install it using the instructions provided.
