The LED light blinks or flashes, or lights up in different colors on the TV

The light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on your TV act as an indicator of the many functions, features, and troubleshooting actions available. Understanding the patterns and different color combinations of the LEDs will help you get the most out of the TV features.

Before you start

• The LED will light up or blink when the TV detects certain activities or changes status, such as receiving a signal from the remote or during a software update. It may also light up or blink when detecting an issue. Refer to the appropriate condition to see why the LED lights up or blinks:
  • When the TV is in use, updating, or standby mode
  • When the TV doesn't work normally

Note: If you have an Apple TV® device, restart it and check if the issue is resolved. If the issue occurs again, please contact Apple support  for further assistance.

When the TV is in use, updating, or standby mode

The light pattern or color of the LED can differ depending on the model. First, check the menu item by following the provided steps, then proceed to the description for your model.

• Check the menu item on your TV

  1. Open the Settings screen.
     • If the remote control has a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the Quick Settings button and select Settings.
     • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings ( or ) button, press the HOME button and select Settings 
  2. Select System or Device preference.
     
     Note: If Device preference is not shown, proceed to step 4.
  3. Select LED indicator, then check the menu option.
     
     Note: If LED indicator is not listed in the menu, refer to the Help Guide (Web manual) on how the LED lights up.
  4. The procedure to check the specification will be different based on the menu item displayed:
     • If Operational response is listed in the menu, refer to the Meaning of the Voice function LED or the Operational response LED on the TV section.
     • If illumination LED is listed in the menu, or if System or Device preference is not shown in step 2, refer to the Meaning of the illumination LED or the bottom of the screen on the TV section.

• Meaning of the Voice function LED or the Operational response LED on the TV

  If Operational response is listed in the menu in the previous step 4, refer to the following.

  The Voice function LED or the Operational response LED

  For a Google TV™ or Android TV™ with Operational response in the menu, the LEDs can light up for various reasons:

  • 
    
  • A: LED for the Voice function: On the left side or center right at the bottom of the TV (This is only for TVs with a built-in microphone)
  • B: LED / Status LED for the Operational response: At the bottom center of the TV

  (A) LED for the Voice function

  The LED turns on or blinks when Ok Google is detected and the TV is communicating with the server. The light pattern of this LED changes depending on the status of communication with the server.

  Notes:

  • For models released in 2021 or later:
    • You can use the built-in MIC on the TV when the built-in MIC switch is On. For the location of the built-in MIC switch, refer to the Reference Guide supplied with the TV.
    • After you press the Google Assistant/MIC button on the remote control and finish activating the built-in MIC, the Voice function LED is lit with an amber light when the built-in MIC is Off. (When the built-in MIC is On, the Operational response LED is lit with an amber light).
  • For 2020 models: If Ok Google detection is disabled after enabling the function, the LED is lit with an amber light while the TV is on. The LED is not lit while in standby mode.

  (B) LED / Status LED for the Operational response

  The LED turns on or blinks with white light when the TV is turning on, when receiving signals from the remote control, or when updating the software using a USB storage device.
  When the built-in MIC switch is On (only models with the built-in MIC switch) or Ok Google detection is enabled, the Operational response LED is lit with an amber light.
  

  Note: This is only for TVs with a built-in microphone.

• Meaning of the illumination LED or the light from the bottom of the TV screen

  If illumination LED was listed in step 4 of the previous steps to check the menu items of your TV, there are 2 types of lighting at the bottom of the TV.

  Depending on the light that you want to check, refer to the following:

  The illumination LED

  The illumination LED lights up or blinks in response to remote control operations and lights up in different colors according to the status of the TV.
  

  Note: Depending on the region and TV model, the availability of the functions and relevant LEDs may differ. For details, refer to the Help Guide (Web manual).

  Status and LED colors

  LED display color	Status of TV
  White	Blink: The TV is turned on A software update is in progress When receiving signals from the remote control Light: The TV is in Picture off mode
  Cyan	Blink: When the TV and a mobile device are connected wirelessly When the TV is set to Demo mode
  Amber	Light: The following Timer functions are set: On Timer, Sleep Timer, Reminder, REC Timer
  Pink	Light: During recording or the TV is in pause mode
  Green	Light: When the built-in camera or microphone is operating
  Yellow	Light: When the built-in MIC is used and the TV is in standby mode

  The light from the bottom of the screen (For some Android TV)

  The bottom of the screen lights up in various situations, such as when a smartphone or other device is recognized via the home network, when timer functions (recording timer, on timer ) are set, or when a recording is in progress, and so on.
  

  Note: The availability of this function depends on the region and model of the TV.

  LED and display color

  White	When Picture off mode is set
  Cyan	When a mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) is connected to the BRAVIA TV within the home network
  Amber	When functions related to the timer are set
  Pink	When recording has started (this function depends on the region and model of your TV)

  Note: Because you will become unable to determine the status of the TV, this action is not recommended.

Depending on the lighting up or blinking status of the LED, refer to the following:

• Blinking red LED:

  For Google TV or Android TV models: If an LED is blinking red, try these troubleshooting options. If these options do not solve the issue and the LED is still blinking red, check how many times it blinks and then contact support.

  • Turn the TV off and on again using a TV remote control or the main power button on the TV.
  • Unplug the main power cord for the TV, then plug it back in.
  • Turn the TV off and then disconnect all connected devices from the TV.
  • Update the TV software to the latest version.

• Other than a blinking red LED:

  Unplug the main power cord for the TV, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in to see if the screen is displayed. If the issue persists, check the color of the LED and how many times it blinks, then contact customer support.
