Subtitles are like written transcriptions of the sounds and spoken words in a TV show or movie. They can also include details about background sounds and scenery. But whether these extra details are available depends on the specific content.
The Subtitle feature is available for TV broadcasts, streaming, and other content (such as apps). However, subtitle support varies by content.
The subtitle feature is enabled by pressing the SUBTITLE (CC) button on the TV remote control.
This feature is available on TV broadcasts and apps. (subtitles may not be available for some TV broadcasts and apps).
Subtitles for TV broadcasts
Two types of subtitles might be available, depending on the TV program.
Press the SUBTITLE (CC) button on the TV remote control, then select either Basic or For hard of hearing.

The app's support for subtitles will vary depending on the app itself.
How to display (or remove) subtitles on the TV screen
- On the TV remote control, press the MENU button.
- Select Subtitle → OK.
- Select your preferred language.
Subtitles for TV broadcasts
Select the type of subtitles:
- Basic: These subtitles only display the audio portion of the content.
- For hard of hearing: These subtitles display the audio portion and non-speech elements of the content, such as the sound of someone knocking on a door.
How to change the settings:
- On the TV remote control, press the Quick Settings button.
- Select System → Accessibility → Subtitle settings → Broadcast → Subtitle.
- Select Basic or For hard of hearing.
How to set the optional language setting:
- On the TV remote control, press the Quick Settings button.
- Select System → Accessibility → Subtitle settings → Broadcast → Primary Language or Secondary Language.
Subtitles for streaming and other content
Optionally, you can change the Language, Text size, and Subtitle style:
- On the TV remote control, press the Quick Settings button.
- Select System → Accessibility → Subtitle settings → Streaming and other content.
- Select your preferred item: Language, Text size, or Subtitle style.
