How to change the device name or SSID of the Android TV or Google TV

Before you start

Changing the Device name of the Android™ TV or Google TV™ allows you to rename the device name or model number that usually appears on the Wi-Fi Direct® settings screen of the TV. This is helpful if you have multiple Sony TVs that are linked to a mobile device or a computer.

Change the device name

1. Open the Settings screen on the TV
   How to access Settings
   • Using the Quick Settings button (For models released in 2019 or later)
     1. Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control.
     2. Select Settings.
   • Using the HOME button
     1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
     2. Select Settings.

   
   
2. Follow the steps below according to your TV menu options:
   • For Android™ 9 or later, select System or Device Preferences → About → Device Name → Change.
   • For Android 8 or earlier, select About → Device Name → Change.
   
   
   Note: After selecting Change, Presets or Edit Custom name will appear.
