Projector Displays Banding or Incorrect Colors When Displaying Certain 4K Content
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
It is normal for the projector to internally process a 2160p HDR signal (4096 or 3840 horizontal with 10-bit color depth) as an 8-bit signal. This will result in visible banding on some material.
In order to obtain optimum picture quality for the vast majority of movie content, you will need to make the following changes when watching 4K 60P content:
- Turn off the HDR functionality of the player, and view the content in SDR.
- On other devices, you can reduce the framerate and maintain the HDR image.
Note:
- Check the manual or help guide supplied with your playback device for more information about these settings.
- If you need a projector to do 4K gaming at 60 fps with HDR, we recommend using one of the following projectors: VPL-VW885ES, VPL-VW5000ES, or VPL-VZ1000ES.
