Display photos or playback movies and music from an Android smartphone to your LCD TV
This article provides information about connecting an Android™ smartphone that supports connecting to an LCD TV with a micro USB cable so that you can enjoy viewing content (photos, music, videos) saved in your smartphone on your TV. Refer to the following information for details.
Before you start
- This solution applies to certain LCD TVs other than Google TV™ or Android TV™ models. For information on Google TV or Android TV models, select your model's information from the article Mirror, cast, or display content or the screen of a mobile device to the TV.
- If you're unsure which type of TV you have, check the article How to check if your TV is a Google TV, Android TV, or other TV.
- Use a smartphone with Android 4.1 operating system or higher and its supplied USB cable.
- Mobile devices with other operating systems aren't supported.
- Depending on the model, your Android smartphone may not support this feature.
- Referer to your TV manuals for details on the supported file formats. Manuals are posted on your model support page.

Step 1: Connect your smartphone to the TV
- Connect your smartphone to the TV with the supplied USB cable.
- On the smartphone, select File transfers or MTP mode.
Step 2: Display photos or play music or videos on your TV
- On the TV remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Media.
- Depending on the type of file you want to playback, select Photo, Music, or Video.
- Select the Category or Generic folder.
- Category: shows the folders of the smartphone's internal and external memory.
- Generic: lists all the photos, music, and videos on the smartphone's internal and external memory.
Note: If there is a Picture folder in both the internal and external memory, two Picture folders are shown. - Use the remote control to select and playback the file.
- Use the color keys to toggle between Photo, Music, and Video.
