Receiving 5.1 channel audio when the Netflix program you're watching has 2 channel audio

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

Suppose the Digital audio out setting in the Sound menu of your TV is set to Auto1 or Auto, the digital out (optical) and HDMI® ARC ports output as 5.1 channel audio regardless of whether the audio of the Netflix® video is 2-channel or 5.1 channel. This is a specification and normal operation for these TV models.

    Notes:

    • If your TV doesn't have Auto2 in the Digital audio out settings, audio from optical digital out/ARC is output as Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus 5.1ch.
    • The specification is locked to Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 or Dolby Atmos and prevents the audio system from muting or producing noise when switching the number of audio channels.
