How to reset or initialize the WF-1000XM5

    Reset the earbuds

    1. Place the earbud headphones in the charging case.
      Note: Leave the charging case lid open.
    2. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the charging case for about 20 seconds or more.
      Hints:
      • After about 15 seconds, the indicator on the charging case flashes orange for about 5 seconds.
        Then, the indicator on the charging case turns off, and the earbud will be reset.
      • Do not release your finger from the reset button on the left side of the USB Type-C port on the charging case while the indicator in the middle of the front of the charging case is flashing orange. If you release your finger, the headset will be initialized.
    3. Check that the indicator turns off, and then release your finger.

    Notes:

    • The pairing information and other settings are retained.

    Initialize the earbuds to restore the factory settings

    IMPORTANT: The initialize operation resets all the device settings to the factory defaults and deletes all pairing information.

    Notes:

    • Delete the pairing information for the earbuds from the connected device and then pair them again.
    • When the charging case's remaining battery charge is insufficient, the earbuds will not start initializing.
    1. Place the earbud headphones in the charging case.
      Note: Leave the charging case lid open.
    2. Press and hold the initialize button on the back of the charging case for about 15 seconds or more.
      Hint: The indicator on the charging case repeatedly flashes blue twice in a row, and then the indicator starts flashing orange.
    3. Release your finger within 5 seconds after the indicator on the charging case starts flashing orange.
      Hint: When the initializing is complete, the indicator on the charging case flashes green 4 times.

    Notes:

    • If the indicator on the charging case doesn't flash green 4 times after performing step 3, the headset hasn't been initialized. Try again from step 2.
