Check the firmware version
If the firmware is version "2.0.0" or above, you do not need to perform the update. If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:
- Launch the Sony | Headphones Connect application.
- Connect your headphones to the Sony | Headphones Connect application.
- Tap the three dots (menu button) in the upper right corner.
- Select the Version of your device shown in the Menu. This item is shown only when the device is connected.
- Confirm the firmware version.
Important notice
- DO NOT "insert the main unit into the battery charger" or "Power off" while downloading/transferring data/updating, otherwise the headphones may become unusable.
- DO NOT "Power off"
- DO NOT tap (power button).
- When updating the WF-H800 when you are not wearing it, set the "Automatic power off function" (power off the function when it is not worn) to "Do not turn off". If it is set to "Off when headphones are taken off", WF-H800 will automatically turn off about 5 minutes later and suspends the data transfer of the update file. After that, when you turn on the headphones and reconnected it with Bluetooth, then the suspended data transfer will restart.
Note: If you have changed the setting, please set it back to "Off when headphones are taken off" after the update is complete.
- DO NOT tap (power button).
- Do not perform the update in a location where the Wi-Fi signal is inconsistent, such as on a train, in a place where Wi-Fi signals become congested, or near a microwave, cordless phone, or any other devices that use the 2.4 GHz band frequency radio waves.
- Make sure both devices (Android/iOS device and the headphones) are fully charged.
- Disconnect all other Bluetooth devices, such as wearable devices or smart watches, from your Android/iOS device before starting the update.
Before you upgrade
- Once updated, the firmware cannot be reverted to an earlier version.
- For both Android and iOS devices, the update process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. (The file size is about 1.0 MB)
- Depending on the wireless environment and your Android/iOS device, it may take longer to complete.
- Set the "Automatic Power Off" function (power off function when non-equipped) of "Sony | Headphones Connect" to "Do not turn off" when updating while WF-H800 is not in use.
Note: If the settings were changed for this update, be sure to restore them after the update is complete. To update these headphones, follow the procedure below.- Download data from the server to the iOS device or the Android device.
