External Flash with Wireless Radio Control
Thanks to the version 2.0 (or later) software update, external flash can be controlled from the camera.
Radio wireless flash control for versatile shooting
Supply powerful lighting with the compact high-performance HVL-F45RM clip-on flash. Explore freedom of built-in wireless radio control in multi-flash settings and conventional optical wireless communication. Easy operation, excellent reliability, expert results — especially for enthusiasts of compact α E-mount interchangeable-lens cameras.
Dramatically downsized to fit the α E-mount cameras, this compact flash is as powerful as guide number 45. Recycle time is approx. 2.5 seconds, with flash output up to approx. 210 times.
With its built-in wireless radio-controlled system, the versatile HVL-F45RM can be used as either commander or receiver, supporting a wide range of shooting situations. As a commander, connect up to 15 units of compatible flashes or receivers in up to 5 groups. You’ll appreciate wireless convenience and varied lighting for flashes placed at distances of up to 30m.

Radio signals enable stable connection over a wider shooting area (about 30 m / 98.4 ft.). Compatible off-camera flash units or receivers pick up radio signals — in bright light, around obstacles, and even when installed behind the camera. That means more consistent results without pairing errors.
Follow the link below to find compatible cameras. Some cameras may require a software update for use.
Enjoy quick intuitive operation with tab menus just like that on the camera.
One press of “Fn” button calls up Quick Navi screen, letting you directly change shooting settings.
Assign often-used functions to up, down, left, right, centre keys and control wheel (highlighted in red) for easy access.
Flexible head rotates 180° left and 180° right for rapid bounce operation.
Use easy 150° up / 8° down tilt adjustment, plus one-touch rearward bounce.
Bounce flash is possible, even with the camera held in vertical composition.
Guide number changes according to zoom position. See the table below.

Control shutter speed and flash intensity for the precise effect you want.
Set intensity for each of up to three groups of wirelessly controlled flashes.
Flash can be synchronised to all shutter speeds — unlike conventional daylight sync, in which shutter speed must be equal to or slower than flash speed.
By acquiring accurate distance information between the lens and subject through TTL metering, ADI delivers precise flash intensity control that is not influenced by high or low reflectance of the subject or background.
