FORMAT ERROR or NO DATA Flashes on My Walkman Player Display
This message appears when I try to play a song on my Walkman® player.
See if the message disappears after completing each step. Check your manual for model-specific information. Manuals are posted on your model support page.
- Make sure to format or initialize your device using the Format or Initialize function built into your device and not on your computer.
WARNING! There is a risk of data loss. Formatting the built-in flash memory of the device will erase all stored data and settings. Make sure to back up all your data to your computer or other device prior to formatting.
- Press the RESET or RESTART button with a small object such as paper clip to reset your device.
- If you are using AC power, unplug it from the wall for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
- If your device still doesn't work, remove the power source or power off your device for 30 minutes.
If the issue still occurs, repair may be required.  Go to Product Repair.
