What tape formats can be played in Sony® camcorders?
The following list displays tape playback compatibility in Sony® camcorders:
- Standard 8 camcorders: These models play 8mm tapes that are recorded in the standard 8mm format.
- Hi8™ camcorders: These models play 8mm or Hi8™ tapes that are recorded in either the standard 8mm or Hi8™ format.
- MiniDV camcorders: These models play MiniDV tapes only.
- MICROMV™ camcorders: These models play MICROMV™ tapes only.
- Digital8® camcorders: Most models play 8mm or Hi8™ tapes that are recorded in either the standard 8mm, Hi8™, or Digital8® format.
IMPORTANT: Some Digital8® camcorders are not backward compatible, and are not able to playback tapes recorded in the standard 8mm or Hi8™ formats.
