Can Digital 8® tapes be played back on a standard 8mm or Hi8™ camcorder and VCR?
Tapes recorded in the Digital 8 format are recorded at twice the speed of a standard 8mm and Hi8 tape recording. In addition, Digital 8 tapes that have been recorded on by a digital camcorder contain digital information that cannot be read by an analog 8mm or Hi8 device. For these reasons, Digital 8 tapes cannot be played back on standard 8mm or Hi8 camcorders and VCRs.
