Depending on the Bluetooth® device (such as a smartphone), this issue can occur if the volume is not properly linked with the headphones.
If this is the case, either the headphones volume turns to maximum, or the volume cannot be adjusted. If the volume is maximum, remove the headphones, then try the following:
- Adjust the volume using the Bluetooth device, then connect the headphones and check to see if the volume can be adjusted.
- If the volume still can't be adjusted, proceed to the next step.
- Reset the headphones.

- Place the headphones in the charging case, leave the lid open, then hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left unit for about 20 seconds.
- Release your finger when the indicator (red) of the headphones stops flashing and turns off.
- If the indicator (red) did not flash in Step 1, you may need to hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left side of the headphones for about 30 seconds.
- You may be able to continue even if the indicator (red) doesn't flash.
- Hold your finger to the touch sensor on the right unit for about 20 seconds.
- Release your finger when the indicator (red) of the headphones stop flashing and turns off.
- If the indicator (red) didn't flash in Step 3, you may need to hold your finger to the touch sensor on the right side of the headphones for about 30 seconds.
- You may be able to continue even if the indicator (red) doesn't flash.
- The indicator (red) light may be lit after the reset is complete.
- Check to see if the issue is resolved.

- Initialize the headphones and pair them again.

- Initialize the headphones.
- After initializing, connect and pair with a Bluetooth device, then check to see if the issue was resolved.

WF-1000XM3
- Place the headset in the charging case, leave the lid of the charging case open, then hold your fingers to the touch sensors on both the left and right units for about 10 seconds.
- Release your fingers when the indicators (red) of the headset start flashing.
- The indicators (blue) flash 4 times, and the headset is initialized.
- Delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.
- Connect and pair with a Bluetooth device, then check to see if the issue was resolved.
