How does exposure compensation (EV) affect AUTO ISO settings?
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.
The AUTO ISO setting on the camera automatically sets the amount of light sent to the image sensor. You can use the exposure compensation setting (EV) to brighten or darken the image depending on your lighting needs. This will change the AUTO ISO settings.
If the Aperture and Shutter settings are constant, increasing (or decreasing) exposure compensation will change ISO by a fixed value:
- A 1 stop EV increase doubles the ISO (2X).
- A 1 stop EV decrease gives a 1-stop reduction in the ISO (0.5X)
