What is the purpose of the Memory menu in Android 6.0 or higher?

You can use the Memory menu to troubleshoot and understand what applications are using your device’s dynamic memory (RAM). You can find out what apps are using the most RAM, and how the RAM has been used over the last 3 to 24 hours. An app may be using a lot of RAM, causing your device to underperform, crash or freeze.

Android 8.0

To view the average memory use

1. Make sure that Developer options is enabled.
2. In Settings, tap System.
3. Tap Developer options, then tap Memory.

Android 6.0, 7.0 or 7.1: Xperia™ X series, Xperia™ L1 and Xperia™ E5

To view the average memory use

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Storage & memory.
3. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots) > Advanced > Memory.

Android 6.0, 7.0 or 7.1: Xperia™ Z series
