Why can't I use an app in Android 6.x, 7.x or 8.0?

When you install an app from Google Play™ on a device running Android™ 6.0 or higher, you control what capabilities or information the app is permitted to access. Unlike earlier Android versions, in Android 6.0 you don't have to decide whether you want to grant a permission until the app needs the permission and is asking you to allow it (not when you install the app). For example, an app might want permission to see your device contacts. If you don't allow the app to use your contacts, the app might not work. If an app doesn't work, try to turn on and allow permissions in app settings.

To accept permissions

1. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications > App info.
2. Find and tap the app.
3. Tap Permissions.
4. Drag the slider to the right for each permission.

Android 6.x or 7.x

To accept permissions

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
3. Find and tap the app.
4. Tap Permissions.
5. Drag the slider to the right for each permission.
