The Windows 8 operating system has a new Windows User Interface (UI) that is displayed by default. The new Windows UI Start screen replaces both the Start button and Start menu that were present on previous versions of the Windows operating system.

If you are in an App screen or on the traditional Windows Desktop and you would like to go back to the Start screen, you can do so in any one of three ways:

    • Press the Windows Logo key on the keyboard or, for Windows computers with touch capabilities, the Windows Logo button on the screen bezel. Image
    • Point to (but do not click) the lower-left corner of the screen and on the Start overlay, click the Start screen tile. Image
    • Point to (but do not click) the lower-right or top-right corner of the screen, and then click to select the Start charm. Image
