How to troubleshoot a wireless mouse that is not operating properly.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot a wireless mouse that is not operating properly.

IMPORTANT: This procedure is for use with a wireless mouse supplied with a desktop computer.

NOTES:

• Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the mouse status after completing each step.
• Do not use radio-controlled or other wireless devices near the computer or wireless mouse. These devices may cause interference that may prevent the mouse from operating properly.
• Do not place metal furniture near your computer or wireless mouse, as this may create interference and prevent the mouse from operating properly.

1. Replace the batteries in the mouse.
2. Verify the infrared receiver on the front of the computer is free of obstructions.
3. Ensure the wireless mouse has been set up properly .
4. Ensure the mouse is being operated within the recommend range (typically within 11 inches) of the Infrared (IR) receiver on the computer.
5. Only use the mouse on surfaces such as plain paper, card stock, or fabric that have minimal repetitive patterns.

   NOTE: Do not use on surfaces such as mirrors, glass, or magazines that have half-tone printing.

6. Restart the computer  in Safe Mode.
7. Reinitialize the mouse driver .
8. Reset the BIOS defaults .
9. Restore the system  to a time when the mouse last worked.
10. If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, the wireless mouse may need to be replaced.
