How do I set Dolby Dynamic Range?

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    • For models released in 2024: This setting affects Dolby Audio and HE-AAC audio contents.
    • For models released in 2023 or before: This setting affects Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby AC-4 sound sources.

To set the Dolby Dolby Dynamic Range, follow the next steps:

    1. Access the Settings screen according to your TV remote options:
      • Press the Quick Settings ( or ) button, then select Settings. (For models with the Quick settings button on the remote)
      • Press the HOME button, then select Settings.
    2. The following steps depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select Display & SoundPicture & SoundSound (xxx)Dynamic range settingsDynamic Range (current input)Standard or Compressed.
Note: The Sound (xxx) options differ depending on the output device or region. For example, Sound (TV speakers) or Sound (Audio system).
      • Select Display & SoundSoundVolume levelDolby Dynamic RangeStandard or Compressed.
      • Select SoundSoundAdvanced settingsInput relatedDolby Dynamic RangeStandard or Compressed.
    3. Select Standard or Compressed.
      • Standard mode takes the widest dynamic range because signals are directly played back. Quiet signals remain quiet, and loud signals remain loud.
      • Compressed mode compresses the volume difference and increases the overall volume. Thus, the audio is easier to hear regardless of the sound source's dynamic range.

Note: This setting affects Dolby Digital®, Dolby Digital Plus™, and Dolby® AC-4 sound sources.
