The computer displays an AACS Key Has Expired error message when attempting to play a Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie with the InterVideo WinDVD BD software.
To resolve the AACS Key Has Expired error message and allow a Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) movie to be played with the InterVideo® WinDVD® BD software, an update to the AACS key will need to be obtained using the following procedure
IMPORTANT:
- An active Internet connection is necessary to complete this procedure.
- In order to ensure that the issue is not with the InterVideo WinDVD BD software, go to the Support Web Site page specific for your computer model and, in order from oldest to newest, download and install all of the available InterVideo WinDVD BD software updates. Restart the computer after installing each update.
- The Corel Web page https://*.corel.com must be added as a Trusted Website in the Internet Explorer software before attempting to update the AACS key.
- To aid in this process and avoid potential conflicts, delete all temporary files from the computer hard drive before proceeding.
- Turn off or lower the User Account Control (UAC) feature.
- Disable the Protected Mode setting in the Internet Explorer browser.
- Insert the Blu-ray Disc (BD) movie into the Blu-ray Disc (BD) drive.
- Click the Start button, click All Programs, click InterVideo WinDVD, and then click InterVideo WinDVD BD for VAIO.
- At the AACS Key has expired error message, click Yes.
- On the Corel DRM system on Vista Web page, click the Next button.
- On the Corel Account Web page, if you already have a Corel account, use your existing user name and password to continue. If you do not have an account, in the New User field, click to select Personal and then click the Submit button.
NOTE: New Users will have to enter the necessary contact information to complete the COREL Account registration and, once all required information has been provided, click the Submit button.
- On the Patch download Web page, click the link to begin the patch download.
NOTE: The word "here" is the link.
- In the File Download window, click the Save button, and save the file to the Desktop.
- In the WinDVD BD for VAIO window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.
- On the Desktop, double-click the just downloaded WinDVD .exe file.
- In the Do you want to run this software prompt, click the Run button.
- At the Update Module Setup prompt, click the OK button.
- Restart the computer.
- Click the Start button, click All Programs, click InterVideo WinDVD, and then click InterVideo WinDVD BD for VAIO.
- At the AACS Key has expired error message, click Yes.
- On the Corel DRM system on Vista Web page, click the Next button.
- On the Corel Account Web page, use your user name and password to continue.
- At the AACS key update is now finished prompt, click the OK button.
WARNING: Failure to return the UAC feature back to the previous level or keeping the Protected Mode setting disabled in the Internet Explorer browser may result in unwanted security vulnerabilities.
- Reset the UAC feature settings back to the default level.
- Re-enable the Protected Mode setting in the Internet Explorer browser.
If you have completed all of the steps above and the issue is not resolved, follow these steps:
- Uninstall the InterVideo WinDVD BD software.
- Reinstall the InterVideo WinDVD BD software from the VAIO Recovery Center.
- Go to the Support Web Site page specific for your computer model and, in order from oldest to newest, download and install all of the available InterVideo WinDVD BD software updates.
IMPORTANT: Restart the computer after installing each update.
- Follow the procedure above, starting at step 1, to update the AACS key from the Corel DRM system on Vista Web page.
