Set up the Wi-Fi Direct feature of my Android TV or Google TV
This information provides the steps to set up the Wi-Fi Direct® feature for Android TV™ and Google TV™ models.
Note: Not all TVs support the Wi-Fi Direct feature. Check your TV
manuals
for model-specific information.
- Enable the built-in Wi-Fi® of your Android TV:
- Open the Settings screen on the TV
How to access Settings - Follow the steps below according to your TV menu options:
- For Android™ 9 or later, select Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Set it to On.
- For Android 8 or earlier, select Network → Advanced settings → Built-in Wi-Fi → Set it to On.
- Open the Settings screen on the TV
- Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct feature of your TV:
Note: Skip this step if your TV has an Android 8.0 Oreo™ or higher operating system.- Press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Under Network & Accessories category, select Network.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct.
- Set it to On.
- Display the SSID (Service Set Identifier) and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) key of the TV:
Note: The SSID and the WPA key displayed on your TV are used when connecting a Wi-Fi Direct device to your TV.- Open the Settings screen on the TV
How to access Settings - Select Network or Network & Internet.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct settings.
- Select Show Network (SSID)/Password.
- The SSID and the WPA key will display on the TV screen.

- When connecting a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device to your TV, select the SSID of your TV and enter the WPA key displayed on the TV screen as the password.
- If the connection is successful, the message Wi-Fi device is connected will appear on the TV screen.
- For details on the device you're connecting to your TV, refer to the manual supplied with that device.
- Open the Settings screen on the TV
