Set up the Wi-Fi Direct feature of my Android TV or Google TV

    This information provides the steps to set up the Wi-Fi Direct® feature for Android TV™ and Google TV™ models.

    Note: Not all TVs support the Wi-Fi Direct feature. Check your TV manuals for model-specific information.

    1. Enable the built-in Wi-Fi® of your Android TV:
      1. Open the gear icon Settings screen on the TV
      2. Follow the steps below according to your TV menu options:
        • For Android™ 9 or later, select Network & InternetWi-Fi → Set it to On.
        • For Android 8 or earlier, select NetworkAdvanced settingsBuilt-in Wi-Fi → Set it to On.
    2. Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct feature of your TV:
      Note: Skip this step if your TV has an Android 8.0 Oreo™ or higher operating system.
      1. Press the HOME button.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Under Network & Accessories category, select Network.
      4. Select Wi-Fi Direct.
      5. Set it to On.
    3. Display the SSID (Service Set Identifier) and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) key of the TV:
      Note: The SSID and the WPA key displayed on your TV are used when connecting a Wi-Fi Direct device to your TV.
      1. Open the gear icon Settings screen on the TV
      2. Select Network or Network & Internet.
      3. Select Wi-Fi Direct.
      4. Select Wi-Fi Direct settings.
      5. Select Show Network (SSID)/Password.

      6. When connecting a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device to your TV, select the SSID of your TV and enter the WPA key displayed on the TV screen as the password.
        • If the connection is successful, the message Wi-Fi device is connected will appear on the TV screen.
