Tokyo, Japan - Sony Group Corporation ("Sony") offers its deepest sympathies to the populations affected by the earthquake that struck near the Turkish-Syrian border on February 6, 2023.
Sony and its group companies will donate approximately 31 million yen in emergency aid to support relief efforts for communities affected by the earthquake.
This includes a donation of 10 million yen from the "Emergency Disaster and Recovery Fund for Children*1," jointly operated by Sony and Save the Children Japan, a non-governmental organization, which will be used for support activities by Save the Children*2.
In addition, Sony will donate a total of 15 million yen to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Furthermore, the Sony Music Group will donate 25,000 dollars (approximately 3.25 million yen*3) and Sony Europe will donate 20,000 euros (approximately 2.8 million yen*4) to support organizations deploying relief efforts in the region.
Sony will also collect donations from employees at Sony Group companies in Japan and match the amounts raised. These donations will be used for local support activities in the affected region.
Sony sends its sincerest condolences to all those affected and wishes for a full and swift recovery.
