International Women's Day 2024 Message from the CEO

March 8 is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women around the world, and recommit to take action towards building an equitable and inclusive society for all.

This year's International Women's Day theme, "Inspire Inclusion," reminds us that when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. Diverse opinions and perspectives are essential to Sony's Purpose to "fill the world with emotion, through the power of creativity and technology."

To promote the importance of inclusion within the company, we conduct various training sessions and forums, and host opportunities for women in leadership positions and other women employees to connect and learn from each other. Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG) activities, in which employees voluntarily take initiative, are also active. Employees from across group companies are coming together to raise awareness and develop solutions to evolve the workplace environment. Sony's women's EBRGs and employee networks are designed to offer support, mentorship and advocacy to women of all levels and backgrounds.

Externally, we have launched the "Sony Women in Technology Award with Nature" to recognize and support outstanding women researchers in technology, whose research is driving a positive impact on our society and planet. Through this award, we aim to accelerate the ambitious work of woman researchers and also hope to inspire the next generation of women in technology.

These initiatives include Girls Make Games, which supports the next generation of game creators; Women in Film and Women in Animation, which provide access and exposure in the film and video industry; and Sony Electronics' Alpha Female+, which supports women photographers and filmmakers; and Women in Music, which supports women in musical arts through education, networking and empowerment.

Understanding the significance of "Inspire Inclusion" and acting on it will lead to the creation of an equitable and inclusive organization and society. By leveraging the diversity of our businesses and individuals, which is one of the strengths of the Sony Group, we aim to create a more inclusive world both within and outside of Sony.
