About iF design award
Since 1954, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been recognized as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design.
The iF label is renowned worldwide for outstanding design services, and the iF DESIGN AWARD is
one of the most important design prizes in the world. Submissions are awarded
in the following disciplines: Product, Packaging, Communication, Interior Architecture,
Professional Concepts, Service, Architecture, User Experience (UX) as well as User Interface (UI).
All awarded entries are featured on the iF Design Website.
The iF gold awards are individually selected from the very best entries of the year.
From 10,800 entries from 72 countries, only the 75 most outstanding design
achievements were honored with gold.

Jury Statement:
At the start of the smartphone era, Sony focused on giving its phones the highest quality sound on the market. More recently, the Xperia series has stood out for its camera quality – and the new 1V is no exception. In addition to packing high-end lenses and sensors, the body uses a tone-on-tone CMF design and a pattern wrap to deliver a professional look and ensure excellent grip.

Sony's original PlayStation controller is a design icon. But, like every great design, it has its limitations – in this case, of accessibility. Now Sony Interactive Entertainment has come up with a new controller that can be customized to the user's needs and abilities. The genius of this design is that it resists the temptation to merely adapt, instead delivering an entirely novel form, which may in time claim icon status of its own.
