About Red Dot Award

The Red Dot Award is the award for an international design competition administered
by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany.
The award is divided into three disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design,
Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept.
Once a year, international design experts discuss and evaluate each entry individually.
Over 18,000 design professionals, companies and organizations from
more than 60 countries enter the competition for this very prestigious award each year.
Winning entries are honored at a grand award ceremony attended by design professionals from all over the world,
and are also presented at the Red Dot Design Museums in Germany, Singapore and China.
With more than 2,000 exhibits, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen (Germany) presents
the world's largest exhibition of contemporary design in the former boiler house of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein,
a former coal mine complex. Innovative and well-shaped objects from around 45 nations make the quality of good design
become experienceable at close range because touching and testing many of the exhibits is allowed.

Product Design

The Red Dot: Product Design is for product designs which have been launched on the market between 1 January 2020 and 1 June 2022.
Entries are judged on nine criteria, including degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality,
ergonomics, durability, and symbolic and emotional content.

4K OLED Television

BRAVIA XR
A95K Series

Red Dot: Best of the Best

The A95K is Sony’s line of high-end 4K OLED TVs that combine our original Cognitive Processor XR to deliver our widest color palette and reproduces naturally beautiful shades and hues. Acoustic Surface Audio+ , which vibrate the screen itself and create acoustics, deliver exceptional sound quality with no visible presence of a speaker. In addition to the installation using a wall mount, dual style offers two different viewing formats – 'front position' brings the screen forward for the most immersive experience while 'back position' allows users to set the TV close to the wall, so it blends seamlessly with the room. To reduce environmental impact, the A95K uses Sony-developed SORPLAS recycled plastics in its rear cover, the largest TV part by area, reducing overall virgin plastic use by approximately 60%.

Sony’s Cinema Line is a series of cameras that have cinematic expression cultivated in the field of film production. It is combined with state-of-the-art digital imaging technology in this interchangeable-lens camera featuring a full-frame image sensor. Despite its compact, lightweight body, this camera boasts excellent operability and has what it takes to capture every fleeting nuance in powerful cinematic expression. As demand increases for video content in various fields, including social media and video sharing websites, this camera caters to the desire of serious creators for cinematic expression with more freedom. The compact, durable body made of magnesium alloy is fitted with a cooling fan to withstand extended shooting sessions. The grip is tilted forward for ease of operability when shooting with the camera held chest or waist high. Five screw holes on the body allow accessories to be attached directly without using a cage or rigs. The T-shaped top handle facilitates camerawork in various shooting situations, such as low-angle shots.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Airpeak S1

Red Dot: Best of the Best

Airpeak S1 is a drone developed for video creators by harnessing Sony’s imaging, sensing, AI, and robotics technologies. Featuring the Alpha Full-frame Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera, Airpeak S1 enables dynamic video production with its agile flight capabilities and stable control in midair using Sony’s original propulsion system. The airframe was made as light as possible to enable long flights. Arms and legs are made of carbon, camera stays magnesium, and other parts reinforced resin. Four arms stretch out from the body, forming a rigid structure with an optimally positioned center of gravity. Sensors are placed in optimal position to maximize object recognition range without impeding obstacle detection. The no-frills design ensures stable flight even at high speeds. The controller design minimizes fatigue in extended use and enables accurate control. It has a round form for a better fit in the hand, and the grip configuration is designed for comfort of use.
