About Red Dot Award

The Red Dot Award is the award for an international design competition administered
by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany.
The award is divided into three disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design,
Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept.
Once a year, international design experts discuss and evaluate each entry individually.
Over 20,000 design professionals, companies and organizations from
more than 60 countries/areas enter the competition for this very prestigious award each year.
Winning entries are honored at a grand award ceremony attended by design professionals from all over the world,
and are also presented at the Red Dot Design Museums in Germany, Singapore and China.
With more than 2,000 exhibits, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen (Germany) presents
the world's largest exhibition of contemporary design in the former boiler house of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein,
a former coal mine complex. Innovative and well-shaped objects from around 45 nations make the quality of good design
become experienceable at close range because touching and testing many of the exhibits is allowed.

Product Design

The Red Dot: Product Design is for product designs which have been launched on the market between 1 January 2021 and 1 June 2023.
Entries are judged on nine criteria, including degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality,
ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility, and symbolic and emotional content.

4K LCD Television

BRAVIA XR™ X95L Series

Red Dot: Best of the Best

Sony’s new BRAVIA model is a high-end 4K LCD TV combining our original Cognitive Processor XR™ and Mini LED backlight to achieve breathtaking contrast that balances dazzling brightness with incredibly deep blacks. The TV's slim body houses top-mounted Frame Tweeter in the back, two subwoofers, and midrange speakers at the bottom of the screen to create a truly immersive audio experience that feels as if the sound is coming directly from the screen. The ultra-thin aluminum bezel around the panel eliminates all distracting elements for more immersive viewing. The stands, much smaller compared with previous BRAVIA generations, were put at the two ends for the screen to avoid reflections and keep the viewer’s attention on the pictures.

DualSense Edge™ Wireless Controller

Red Dot: Best of the Best

The DualSense Edge™ Wireless Controller retains all the functions and ergonomics of the previous wireless controller but comes with new features for enhancing the user’s gameplay. These include customizable parts to fit one's hand size or playstyle, personalized control profiles, adjustable trigger lengths and mappable back buttons to help increase input speed, an Fn button that can be used to quickly adjust audio and switch profiles directly from the controller, replaceable stick modules, a USB cable with a lockable connector housing, and an ability to switch between the game and settings screen seamlessly to efficiently optimize the profile. This controller is optimally designed for esports and similar usage situations, while following the design theme of PlayStation® 5 and retaining the ergonomics of DualSense.

PlayStation® VR2

Red Dot: Best of the Best

PlayStation® VR2 takes VR gaming to a new level, enabling a greater sense of presence and allowing players to immerse into game worlds like never before. By combining eye tracking and foveated rendering techniques with two 2000 x 2040 OLED displays, a high resolution visual experience that makes maximum use of PS5’s rendering power is achieved. The controllers feature subtle and precise haptic feedback, adaptive triggers that let the user experience varying levels of force and tension, and headset vibrations to create an overwhelming level of immersion. The designers sought to maintain consistency with the concept of "5 dimensions" shared by PS5 products, and made the gaming experience itself the core element of the design.

PlayStation® VR2 Sense™ Controller Charging Station

Red Dot: Best of the Best

The PlayStation®VR2 Sense™ Controller Charging Station, specially designed for the PlayStation® VR2 Sense™ Controllers, holds the controllers being charged without interfering with the grips so that users can slip their hands directly into the docked controllers and start using them right away. Putting the controllers back on the charging station is equally quick and hassle-free—the users can just place them directly on the charging station and release their grip to start charging, without having to hold them with the other hand. The charging station is designed to create a harmonious whole with the orb design of the controllers so that together they look like a single object.
