The Creative Center is hosting a new Sony Design Gallery program series that introduces Sony Design to the visitors from various perspectives. The exhibition will be held at Sony Park Mini, a 30m² experimental pop-up space. The first installment of the series will be held on the theme of graphic design. Titled "MEMORY OF TECHS," held from April 13 to 24, 2024, it is a hands-on exhibition that seeks to leave an imprint on people's memory through technology logos printed on various products and packages.

The Creative Center produces a wide range of design, from products to brands and interfaces, in business areas that include entertainment, financial services, and mobility. Sony Design Gallery is a program series that attempts to recall and introduce technologies that are part of our everyday lives from various perspectives, through the activities of designers who translate technologies into design with the power of creativity.

The first program, "MEMORY OF TECHS," will feature a hands-on exhibition on the theme of graphic design, using various technology logos designed over the years by Sony designers.
The world abounds with technology logos. From "Blu-ray Disc” that can be found in many people's homes to "Betamax," which should be familiar to long-time Sony fans, the Creative Center has chosen 52 samples to be exhibited from the vast collection of technology logos that it has designed to date.
Visitors will also be able to play a memory game that tests their memory using game cards designed with these logos as a motif.

Comment from Project Members

Sony's technologies have continued to support people's lives today and in the past, but most of them are blended into our everyday lives and not directly recognizable. However, they can be symbolized and communicated to people with the power of design. That's what logo design does.

In this exhibition, we present 52 types of logo design under the four themes of "Watching, Listening, Connecting, and Recording." These logos designed by Sony’s designers—some used in the past, some still used today—each represent a specific technology. We hope that an encounter with these logos will help leave a mark of Sony's technologies, and the experience they create, in people's memories. That’s our wish as expressed in the title "MEMORY OF TECHS."

These Sony Design Gallery exhibitions will continue to be held in the future, on themes including UI and UX. We look forward to welcoming you in Ginza, home to numerous galleries. Please come and have a look at Sony Design presented in its diverse aspects.
