The Creative Center is hosting a Sony Design Gallery program series that introduces Sony Design to the visitors from various perspectives. The exhibition will be held at Sony Park Mini, a 30 m² experimental pop-up space. The second installment of the series, held from July 27 to August 7, 2024, is a hands-on exhibition on the theme of interface design. It will feature various exhibits that return an unexpected output for each input.

The Creative Center engages in a wide range of design and branding activities, from products to other aspects of businesses that include entertainment, financial services, and mobility. Sony Design Gallery is a program series that attempts to recall and introduce technologies that are part of our everyday lives from various perspectives, through the activities of designers who translate technologies into design with the power of creativity.

The second program of the Sony Design Gallery series is titled "INｘOUT." It will feature exhibits that combine different Sony products in a manner that responds to an input for a certain product by returning an output of another product. One exhibit, for example, combines a camera featuring a Smile Shutter function that automatically takes a picture when it detects a smile, and a card reader that displays a monetary amount when you hover a card equipped with the FeliCa^™ contactless IC card technology over it. By combining the input of the former—smile—with the output of the latter—monetary amount—it displays a monetary value that corresponds to the degree of the smile of the person standing in front of the camera. Then, what happens when you hover a card over the reader? Or when you drop the needle on a record? This exhibition will make you realize how intuitively designed all the familiar interfaces are, while being entertained by the odd combinations of various INs and OUTs.
