Entertainment, Technology & Services (ET&S) is developing human resources for inclusive design across the group.
In ET&S, we continue to offer workshops to provide employees with experience in inclusive design*1. By the end of FY2022, over 1,000 employees, ranging from executives and management to new hires, had participated in these workshops.
The workshops enable participants to actually collaborate with people with visual, hearing, and physical impairments, and gain insights through dialog into the inconveniences and difficulties they face and the innovations they develop. Participants look at these insights not as individual issues but as problems for society as a whole, and their joint efforts to determine the values that Sony wants to offer society transcend organizations and generations.
We are working to improve accessibility in a sustainable manner by nurturing inclusive design personnel throughout the group and establishing systems for promoting accessibility in all business domains.
In the Camera segment, we have developed a Screen Reader function*2 that reads menus and video playback screens aloud to provide users with visual impairments, based on repeated dialogs and operational confirmations with them. The function has been incorporated into some digital camera models. In the Mobile segment, we are also working through fieldwork and dialogue with employees with disabilities at Sony/Taiyo Corporation to develop a function that informs the user of the horizontal measurement information of the photography screen through sound when taking photos using the Photography Pro.
We leverage creativity and technology to enhance the accessibility of our products, services, and experiences.
Through our commitment to an inclusive future, we aim to create a world where everyone belongs.
We strive to enable and empower individuals of all abilities to share Kando (emotion).
